If you believe the experts, as you should and as I do, social distancing is the only way to get the coronavirus pandemic under any kind of control. And clearly, social distancing is code for isolation. I know this is serious business and will radically change the way we live, even if only for a few weeks. As Bill McKibben so accurately describes it in his New Yorker piece, With The Coronavirus, Hell is No Other People, we’ll have to help each other through this from 10 feet away. Of course there’s the telephone, radio, FaceTime, Netflix, our bookshelves, our record collections, jigsaw puzzles, purging, death cleaning, training for a half marathon, social media, cultivating orchids and planting your survival garden. And, there are thousands of podcasts to choose from that cover each and every one of these topics. I feel certain that you are each equipped with enough curiosity and access to streaming services to keep your heads grooving and spinning through this international crisis. However, I fear that the torture of this pandemic will be the physical isolation from other actual people. The no touching rule. With the devastating economic impact this is bound to have, I don’t think it should be exacerbated by a country full of affection starved, pent up citizens shaking from the existential angst of the coming climate disaster who have themselves not come in way too long. May I suggest that now is the time to explore the over 100 podcasts on iTunes that are categorized as “Erotica”. I only recently discovered this bounty so I cannot yet recommend any. But, judging strictly by the title (and who doesn’t judge that way??) Here’s my list of potential new favs:
Girl Boner Radio
Bad Girls Bible
Orgy Story
Fucks Given
Did you know that research shows that men prefer visual erotica (they like to watch) and women prefer to read, or listen. That means that the best of the podcasts are designed for women. Imagine the fun you can have all by yourself. Or how much you can learn! So, after you explore and listen to your own list, please share your recommendations, thoughts, feelings, recipes and opinions in the comments below. Let’s be sure to mitigate the isolation with intimate listening.
